Introduction to the Mental Health Training “Mentally Fit”

Maintaining mental balance is crucial in both daily life and professional settings. “Mentally Fit” is a practical training designed to help you better understand your mental well-being and equip you with essential skills and tools to find and maintain mental balance. During the training, you will assess your current mental state, learn to recognize and express emotions, and acquire psychological self-help techniques that you can apply in everyday life.

This training is aimed at individuals who wish to enhance their self-awareness, foster a positive mindset, and strengthen their ability to communicate non-violently with themselves and others. The practical exercises and knowledge provided will help you build a healthier relationship with yourself and the world around you.

Training Outcomes

By the end of the training, you will:

  • Be able to assess your current mental balance and set personal development goals.
  • Understand how to recognize and express emotions.
  • Know how to generate and amplify positive emotions.
  • Learn various psychological self-help techniques.
  • Develop skills to communicate non-violently with yourself and others.

About the Trainer

For the past 10 years, Ly Kivikas has conducted communication training, trained student counselors at TalTech, led self-management courses, delivered lectures and workshops on communication psychology, and participated in various educational projects. As a communication trainer, Ly believes that strong communication skills contribute to a happier and more successful life and relationships. Additionally, they help create a positive workplace environment, which supports employees’ (mental) well-being and leads to better work performance.

CURRICULUM: Internal Training “Mentally Fit”

Field of Study: Personal Development

Curriculum Basis: The curriculum is based on publicly available materials, which will be referenced during the training.

Objective:

The training aims to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills to assess their current mental balance, define development goals, and apply psychological self-help techniques to cultivate and maintain a positive mindset. It also promotes awareness of nonviolent communication with oneself and others.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Be able to assess their current mental balance and set development goals.
  • Recognize and express emotions consciously.
  • Understand how to create and enhance positive emotions.
  • Learn various psychological self-help techniques.
  • Know how to communicate nonviolently with themselves and others.

Target Audience:

Anyone looking to improve their mental balance and learn practical methods for increasing self-awareness and managing emotions.

Admission Requirements:

Participants must have at least a B2-level proficiency in Estonian.

Training Duration:

1 training day (4 academic hours).

Training Content:

  • Mapping mental balance and its importance in daily life.
  • Recognizing and expressing emotions.
  • Techniques for creating and enhancing positive emotions.
  • Psychological self-help methods and their application.
  • Nonviolent communication with oneself and others.
  • Practical exercises to strengthen mental balance and well-being.
  • Follow-up: Sharing experiences and feedback on applying learned tools.

Teaching Methods:

  • Interactive mini-lectures
  • Practical exercises
  • Pair and group work
  • Self and group reflection

Training Environment:

The training takes place in a collaborative learning environment equipped with presentation technology and a flip chart. Support for participants with special needs will be provided within the trainer’s competence. The training can also be conducted online via Zoom. Participants will receive a link to access the virtual training space.

Number of Participants:

Maximum of 16 participants per group.

Learning Materials:

  • Trainer-prepared materials
  • Training-related supplies provided by the trainer

Completion Requirements:

  • Attendance of at least 80% of the training.
  • Completion of assessment methods.

Assessment Methods:

  • Self-reflection
  • Peer reflection

Assessment Criteria:

  • Full participation in training and practical exercises.

Certificates Issued:

  • Certificate of Completion (if all requirements are met).
  • Certificate of Attendance (if requirements are not fully met).

Trainer Qualifications:

  • Completed trainer certification
  • Native Estonian speaker or proficiency at C1 level
