Introduction

Internal training plays a key role in fostering organizational growth and employee development. In this training, we will explore the role of an internal trainer and various aspects of conducting training sessions. The course is based on practical examples and provides solutions for handling different situations that may arise during training.

Outcome

By the end of the training, participants will understand the role of an internal trainer, have an overview of training planning, preparation, and execution, and be familiar with possible solutions for challenges that may occur during training sessions.

About the Trainer

Helen holds a Level 6 Adult Educator qualification and is an internationally recognized DiSC trainer. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Tallinn University of Technology. With over nine years of experience in HR—both in retail and business consulting—Helen has worked as a certified Executive Coach, helping top executives turn their visions into reality.

CURRICULUM: Internal Training “Mastering the Art of Training”

Field of Study: Management and Administration

Basis for Curriculum Development:

The curriculum is based on publicly available materials, which are referenced during the training sessions.

Objective:

The goal of this training is to provide fresh in-house trainers with fundamental knowledge of the role of an internal trainer and an overview of training planning, preparation, and execution. Additionally, the training aims to share practical examples of challenges encountered in training sessions and possible solutions.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Understand the role of an internal trainer.
  • Be able to prepare for training and select appropriate training methods.
  • Know key aspects to keep in mind when delivering training.
  • Have basic knowledge of public speaking.

Target Audience:

In-house trainers or specialists/managers whose work involves training others.

Prerequisites:

Participants must have at least B2-level proficiency in Estonian (independent user).

Training Duration:

4 academic hours

Training Content:

  • The role of an internal trainer
  • Training planning and preparation
  • Selection of training methods
  • Preparation and use of training and presentation materials
  • Basic principles of public speaking
  • Handling challenging situations during training

Teaching Methods:

  • Interactive mini-lectures
  • Practical exercises
  • Pair and group work
  • Case studies
  • Training demonstrations
  • Self-reflection and group reflection

Learning Environment:

The training takes place in a learning environment adapted for group work, equipped with presentation technology and a flipchart. Accommodations for participants with special needs will be made within the trainer’s capacity. The training can also be conducted online via Zoom. Participants will receive a link to the online session from the trainer.

Group Size:

A maximum of 14 participants per group.

Training Materials:

  • Trainer-prepared materials
  • Necessary learning tools provided by the trainer

Completion Requirements:

  • Attendance of at least 80% of the training sessions
  • Successful completion of assessment methods

Assessment Methods:

  • Self-reflection
  • Peer feedback and evaluation
  • Preparation of a training activity plan

Assessment Criteria:

  • Awareness of personal strengths and development areas as an (internal) trainer and the ability to plan training activities accordingly.

Certification:

  • Certificate (issued if completion requirements are met)
  • Statement of Participation (issued if completion requirements are not met)

Trainer Qualifications:

  • Completed trainer training
  • 5+ years of practical experience as a trainer
  • Proficiency in Estonian at a native or C1 level
