Introduction

As a pre-work activity for the communication training, each participant will receive a personalized DiSC® profile to begin by understanding themselves better. During the training, participants will explore their behavior in various situations and learn how to consciously adapt it to interact effectively with different people.

Under the guidance of a professional communication trainer, participants will learn to use various communication techniques and enhance their communication skills. The selection of techniques will be based on participants’ behavioral styles, providing practical tools for use in different situations.

Outcome

By the end of the training, participants will have a deeper understanding of their natural behavior and communication style and will know how to adapt it when interacting with others. Participants will leave the training equipped with skills to apply various communication techniques in their daily work.

About the Trainers

Helen holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tallinn University of Technology and a master’s in Human Resource Management. With over nine years of experience in HR, Helen has worked in both retail and business consultancy. As a certified Executive Coach, she has collaborated with numerous top executives to help them turn their visions into reality. In addition to her HR expertise, Helen holds an Adult Educator Level 6 qualification and is an internationally recognized DiSC® trainer.

For the past 10 years, Ly has conducted communication training sessions, trained student counselors at TalTech, taught self-management courses, delivered lectures, seminars, and training on communication psychology, and been involved in implementing various educational projects. As a communication trainer, Ly believes that strong communication skills lead to a happier and more successful life and relationships. They also create a significantly better internal climate within an organization, which in turn helps maintain employees’ (mental) health and ensures improved work performance.

The curriculum is based on publicly available materials, which are also referenced during the training.

Objective

The goal of the training is to help participants understand their natural behavioral and communication styles, introduce various communication techniques, and develop the skills needed to use them in daily work.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the training, participants will:

  • Have a better understanding of their natural behavior and communication style.
  • Be able to adapt their communication style according to the situation and the people they interact with.
  • Know how to use various communication techniques effectively.

What is DiSC®?

DiSC® is a developmental tool that focuses on understanding behavioral style profiles and using this knowledge for skill development.
The Everything DiSC® profiles offer extensive application possibilities and create a highly personalized development experience. DiSC® is one of the most researched, validated, and locally adapted tools for cultural relevance.

DiSC® can be used to develop and improve:

  • Self-awareness
  • Communication and relationships
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership skills
  • Sales and customer service skills
  • Coping with changes
  • Conflict resolution skills

Target Audience

The training is designed for specialists and leaders whose roles require strong communication skills.

Prerequisites

  • Proficiency in Estonian at a B2 (independent user) level.
  • Completion of the DiSC® questionnaire prior to the training.

Training Duration

  • One-day training (8 academic hours).
  • Pre-training independent work (0.5 academic hours).

Content of the Training

  • What is DiSC®?
  • Understanding our natural behavior and communication style through the DiSC® model.
  • Introduction to your personal DiSC® style.
  • How to adapt your natural behavioral and communication style to different situations.
  • What makes communication challenging?
  • Communication techniques for handling different situations.

Teaching Methods

  • Interactive mini-lectures
  • Role-playing exercises
  • Group discussions
  • Pair and group work
  • Case analysis
  • Self- and group reflection

Training Environment

The training takes place in an environment adapted for group discussions, equipped with presentation tools and a flipchart.
Accommodations for participants with special needs are made within the trainer’s competence and capabilities. The training can also be conducted online via Zoom. Participants will receive a link to access the virtual session.

Number of Participants

A maximum of 16 participants per group.

Training Materials

  • Trainer-prepared materials
  • DiSC® materials
  • All necessary learning tools provided by the trainer

Completion Requirements

  • Attendance of at least 80% of in-class sessions is mandatory for assessment.
  • Completion of assessment methods.

Assessment Methods:

  • Self-reflection
  • Peer-to-peer feedback with another participant

Assessment Criteria:

  • Understanding of their DiSC® style.
  • Ability to adapt their communication style to different situations.
  • Ability to use various communication techniques.

Documents Issued

  • Certificate (issued if completion requirements are met)
  • Statement of Participation (issued if completion requirements are not met)

Trainer Qualifications

  • Completed trainer certification
  • Certified DiSC® trainer and consultant
  • At least 3 years of experience as a communication trainer
  • Proficiency in Estonian at a native or C1 level
